The Forecast button on each individual site’s dashboard in SEOTesting will allow you to generate a 6 month forecast for overall site performance based on historical data for:

Clicks
Impressions

SEOTesting archives the overall site performance each day. This means as you use SEOTesting you’ll have access to more than 16 months of data. The longer you have been using SEOTesting the more site performance data we have to generate a forecast which will include seasonal and monthly trends.

SEOTesting has two forecasting models:

Facebook Prophet
SSA

Facebook Prophet

Facebook Prophet is an open-source time series forecasting tool developed by Meta (formerly Facebook). It’s designed to make forecasts for time series data that show clear seasonal patterns and trends.

SSA

Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) is a method for time-series decomposition and forecasting. SSA is based on linear algebra techniques to extract meaningful patterns (like trend, seasonality, and noise) from time series data.

My Content Group is missing data

This guide will help you understand why data isn't showing up on your Content Group.

Google Search Console data is delayed

Google Search Console reporting data is usually 48 hours behind.

Since we use Google Search Console API to display data about your site, we must wait for GSC to make data available before updating your content group.

The most common reason your content group hasn't been updated is that we don't have confirmed data from the Google Search Console for the period - week or month, depending on the group update frequency.

For weekly content groups, SEOTesting needs the complete data for the week from Monday to Sunday before updating the group. With the two day delay, this usually means that weekly content groups will update on a Tuesday.

For monthly groups, SEOTesting needs the complete data for the month from the 1st until the last day before updating. With the two day delay, this usually means that monthly content groups will update on the 2nd/3rd of the next month.

|| For both cases, we only start updating content groups when we have the complete data.

As soon as more data is marked as confirmed on GSC, our tool will get the most recent data for your site and start the update process.

SEOTesting will automatically check if more recent data for your site is available, and when the data is available, it should only take a few minutes for the content group to update.

How to integrate Google Analytics (GA4) with SEOTesting.

Integrating Google Analytics with SEOTesting will open up 3 useful things:

Event data for time-based testing. This helps show business ROI of SEO changes and experiments.
LLM test type - run tests to see if changes to pages help them appear more often, and get more clicks, from LLMs such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini etc
LLM Traffic Pages report - see which URLs are getting clicks from LLMs

Steps to integrate SEOTesting with Google Analytics

The Google Analytics setting is a per-site setting, so it needs to be applied for each site.

From the Launchpad, or using the site switcher, click on the site you wish to set up with Google Analytics.
When looking at the dashboard, click the Edit button along the top.

In the site's settings page, click the integration tab.
Scroll down to the GA4 integration section. First you need to give SEOTesting permission to read Google Analytics data. Do this by clicking on the 'Allow GA4 Read Only Access' button. Follow the steps to give permission.

Once permission has been granted, you need to tell SEOTesting which property within Google Analytics to use to look up the data.

How to add Bing Webmaster Tools data to SEOTesting dashboard

Why add Bing data to SEOTesting?

There are two reasons for adding Bing Webmaster Tools to your SEOTesting site’s dashboard.

How important is Bing traffic to the site?

Bing might be sending you more traffic than you realise - so it might need more attention.

If there is a drop in Google traffic, is this replicated across Bing.

If it is just a drop in Google traffic, it could be an unofficial algorithm update
If there is a drop in both Google and Bing traffic, it could indicate a technical issue on the site that should be investigated further.

Setting up SEOTesting + Bing Webmaster Tools

Assuming your site is already added to Bing Webmaster Tools, pop in there and click the settings cog in the top right.
Go to API Access, and copy out the API key
Back in SEOTesting, go to your individual site’s dashboard and click the Edit button towards the top
In the integrations section, paste in your Bing Webmaster Tools API key. If you get an error, please make sure the canonical URL value on the Website Settings tab ends with a /

Server Error - 401 Unauthorized

If you get this error when adding the Bing Webmaster Tools API key to SEOTesting, it’s likely that the URL of the site in BWT does not match the canonical domain that is in use now.

New Dashboard Issues

We've deployed a new dashboard, but it requires a switch from sub-domain to domain cookies when you log in.

If you are having issues logging in, or the LaunchPad and Dashboard are not displaying data correctly, you may need to manually clear the old sub-domain cookie.

First, try logging out by visiting https://app.seotesting.com/account/logout and then logging back in again.

If the issue persists, you can try manually clearing the auth cookie. You can do this in Google Chrome by going:

Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Third Party Cookies -> See all site data and permissions
Then search for and delete the seotesting.com cookie
Browse back to app.seotesting.com and you should be able to log in again

Sorry for these manual steps, but it saves you from clearing all cookies and then having to log back into every website again (which we know is super annoying! :) )

If all else fails, you can clear all browser cookies and this will solve the issue. But we realise how annoying it is to have to log into everything again!

Brand vs Non-Brand Report

The Brand vs Non-Brand report in SEOTesting will give you an overview of your site's performance in Google search results from a Brand and Non-Brand query perspective.

The data for this report is pulled from Google Search Console.

How the Report Works

The Brand vs Non-Brand report has a textbox where you can enter your brand keywords.

In this report, you must use a Regex format for your brand keywords.

For example, you might enter the following brand keywords if you worked for AutoTrader: auto|trade

The report will then complete two Search Console data requests.

One request with a REGEX “including” filter to get the data for your brand keywords and one request with a REGEX “excluding” filter, which will fetch all of your non-brand data.

Once SEOTesting has completed the two Search Console data requests, 4 graphs will be plotted within your report.

On each graph, it will plot the data points for brand and non-brand.
