An overview of SEOTesting's AI SEO Lab tools

What are SEOTesting's AI SEO Lab tools?

The AI SEO Lab tools (found under Labs in your SEOTesting dashboard) help you understand how your pages measure up in AI search - what questions a topic actually demands, how well your content answers them, whether the page fits the audience it's written for, and whether the writing itself is clear enough for an AI system to trust and extract.
Instead of guessing which pages need work, the Lab tools turn "this page might need updating" into a clear, prioritised list of fixes.

Why use them?

AI search systems generate their own questions around a topic, then look for pages that answer those questions clearly, back up their claims, and serve the right audience. That's a different bar to traditional keyword matching, and it's hard to judge by eye whether a page clears it.
The Lab tools give you a structured way to check:

  • Which questions and sub-topics a page should be covering.
  • How much of that ground the page actually covers.
  • Whether the page serves the audiences you're trying to reach.
  • Where the writing itself - vague claims, weak headings, dense paragraphs - is holding the page back.

The tools:

Query Fan-Out Generator

Turns a single topic or keyword into the full set of related questions, comparisons, follow-ups, and intent variations your content may need to answer. Use it before writing a new page, refreshing an old one, or briefing a content team. Using the Query Fan-Out Tool

Content Evaluator

Scores a page against the query set generated by the Query Fan-Out Generator, using semantic similarity rather than keyword matching. You get a breakdown of which queries are fully covered, partially covered, or missing entirely.

ICP Personas

Lets you build and store Ideal Customer Profile personas for a site - their goals, pain points, objections, buying triggers, and preferred content formats. These personas feed into the Persona Page Evaluator below. ICP Personas Tool

Persona Page Evaluator

Checks a page against your saved personas and scores how well it serves each one, highlighting unanswered questions, tone mismatches, and gaps to fix. Persona Page Evaluator tool

Vague Language Detector

Flags weak, non-specific wording - phrases like "fast", "many", or "industry-leading" - that's harder for readers and AI systems to trust or quote, and suggests clearer, more specific alternatives.

Unanchored Claims Analyzer

Identifies claims made on the page that need proof, examples, citations, or clearer context before they can be trusted or confidently used.

Unclear Headings Checker

Finds headings that don't explain what their section actually answers, and suggests clearer alternatives so both readers and AI systems can quickly understand each section's role.

List & Table Suggestions

Spots dense paragraphs - like feature or pricing comparisons - that would be easier to understand, and easier for AI search to extract, as a list or table.

All of these tools have their own dedicated support articles.

A suggested workflow

  1. Pick a page and topic. Start with a page you already care about - a product page, comparison page, buying guide, support article, or high-impression Search Console page.
  2. Generate the topic fan-out. Run Query Fan-Out to see the full set of questions and intents around the topic.
  3. Evaluate the page. Run the Content Evaluator to see where the page is strong, where it's thin, and which gaps matter most.
  4. Tighten the content. Use the Vague Language Detector, Unanchored Claims Analyzer, Unclear Headings Checker, and List & Table Suggestions to improve wording, claims, headings, and structure.
  5. Check audience fit. Use ICP Personas and the Persona Page Evaluator to make sure the page serves the people you actually want to convert.
  6. Measure what changed. Once the page is updated, use SEOTesting's reports and SEO tests to track whether the change improved performance.

Where to find the Lab tools

From your dashboard, click the select your website dropdown at the top of the page and choose the site you want to work on. Then select Labs from the left-hand menu - all of the tools above are listed there.
