XML Sitemap Generator

What is the XML Sitemap Generator?

The XML Sitemap Generator is a free tool that turns a plain list of URLs into a valid XML sitemap file you can download and submit to search engines.

Why is this useful?

Sometimes you don't want a full site sitemap - you want a small one covering a specific set of pages. If you've just updated or published a batch of URLs and want Google to reindex them promptly, generating a separate XML sitemap for just those URLs and submitting it to Google Search Console is a quick, practical way to flag them.

How to generate a sitemap

  • Open the XML Sitemap Generator and select 'Click to Generate'.
  • Copy and paste your list of URLs into the tool.
  • Click Generate & Download Sitemap.

  • Download the generated XML sitemap file.
  • Submit it to Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools.

TIPS:

  • Use absolute URLs (include https://)
  • Include only pages you want indexed
  • Limit to 50,000 URLs per sitemap
  • Update and resubmit when content changes
  • Submit to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools
Keeping a separate sitemap for recently changed pages makes it easier to see in Search Console whether that specific batch has been picked up, rather than watching numbers move on a sitemap covering your whole site.
