Sitemap URL Extractor

What is the Sitemap URL Extractor?

The Sitemap URL Extractor is a free tool that pulls the full list of URLs out of an XML sitemap or sitemap index file and downloads them as a CSV.

Why is this useful?

A sitemap is a convenient, public list of the URLs a site considers important - but it's in a format that's awkward to work with directly. Extracting those URLs to a CSV gives you a clean list you can crawl, audit, compare, or import into another tool. It works on any site's sitemap, so it's just as useful for competitor research as it is for your own.

Common use cases:

  • Auditing competitor sitemaps
  • Analysing site structure
  • Importing URLs into other tools
  • Creating URL lists for testing
  • Comparing sitemaps over time

Supported formats

  • Regular XML sitemaps
  • Sitemap index files
  • Gzipped sitemaps (.xml.gz)

How to extract URLs:

  • Open the Sitemap URL Extractor and select 'Click to Extract',
  • Copy and paste in the URL of the XML sitemap or sitemap index file.
  • Click Extract & Download URLs.

  • The URLs are extracted and automatically downloaded to your computer as a CSV file.

Tip: If you point the tool at a sitemap index file, it works through the sitemaps it links to - so you get the full URL list in one go rather than extracting each sitemap separately.
