What is the URL to Markdown Converter?

The URL to Markdown Converter is a free tool that takes any live web page and returns its content as clean markdown. It pairs with the Labs content evaluators: when you want to test an existing page in the Persona Page Evaluator or the Content Evaluator by pasting content in, it's the quickest way to get that page's content into a format the evaluators work well with.

Why is this useful?

Both content evaluators let you paste content in directly, which is ideal for iterating on drafts before they go live. If your starting point is a page that's already published, you first need its content in plain text or markdown. Rather than copying from the page by hand and losing the structure, the converter gives you clean markdown in one step, ready to paste into the evaluator.

How to use it:

Open the URL to Markdown Converter.
Paste the URL of the page you want to convert.
The tool fetches the page and returns its content as markdown.
Copy the markdown output.
Paste it into the Paste Content tab of the Persona Page Evaluator or the Content Evaluator, then iterate on it as needed.

Tip: The evaluators accept both plain text and markdown, so you don't have to convert first. But working in markdown keeps headings, lists, and structure intact, which makes the evaluation - and your editing - more accurate.
