Single Test - Setup Instructions
This article will show you how to set up and run an SEO single test in SEOTesting.
How to Set Up a Single Test
First, select at the top of the screen the website you wish to set up the test for.
On your SEOTesting dashboard, click the ‘Tests’ link on the left-hand navigation bar:

Click on the ‘Actions’ button located at the top right of the screen:

Click on the ‘Create’ option and then select 'Single Test':
nter a test name and description. Add a tag if you would like.

Click 'Next'.
On the next screen, select your test scope - either: Page, Page & Query, Query or Site. Then select the appropriate filter from the drop down, and enter your value next to it.

In the 'Optional Settings', you can also add a country filter if appropriate, and define a search type out of:
- Web
- Images
- News
- Video
Click 'Next'.
Enter the date of the test (if different from today's date), and also input your test and control periods. You can use the set periods of e.g. 2 weeks from the drop down, or select your own time period using the date pickers.
Click 'Next'.

Here you can select if you wish to track GA4 events during the time period of your test - if so click on 'Load GA4 events' and follow the instructions.
Select whether you wish to receive emails about the test, and also if you wish it to display on graphs.
Click 'Create Test':

Your test will now be processed.
Interpreting your results:
On your SEO test results page, you'll find all your test configuration details, such as the type of test performed and any active filters.
The results table presents the main performance metrics SEOTesting tracks and measures:
- Clicks Per Day: the number of clicks the test pages/queries get daily.
- Site Clicks Per Day: the number of clicks all pages on the site get from Google.
- Impressions Per Day: the number of impressions the test pages/queries get daily.
- Average Position: the average position of the query/pages.
- Click Through Rate: the CTR of the test query/pages.
- Queries Per Day: the number of queries the test pages rank for per day.

When Google Analytics 4 tracking is enabled, additional GA4 data appears below the results table, providing deeper insights into user behavior.
The SEO test results page also shows a graph for each metric to visualize its performance over time, with a vertical line marking the test start date. You can switch on to view Clicks, Impressions, Position, CTR and Queries by clicking the relevant ones for you (located under the x-axis of the graph):

At the bottom of the page, you'll find statistical calculations that help determine the significance of your test results. This includes the p-value to interpret the statistical validity of your findings:

For tests with GA4 integration, additional debug information also appears here to help you verify the data.
