What is the SEOTesting Chrome Extension?

The SEOTesting Chrome Extension is a free tool that brings Google Search Console data and on-page SEO information into your browser as you view your pages. Instead of switching to the SEOTesting dashboard every time you want to check a page, you can see the key details right where you're working.
The extension is designed to help with day-to-day content and on-page SEO tasks, and it's particularly useful for giving content teams easy access to Search Console data while they browse and optimise pages.

Why use the Chrome Extension?

The extension saves you time by removing the need to open the dashboard for quick checks. As you browse a page on a site you've added to SEOTesting, you can immediately see the queries it ranks for and whether those queries actually appear on the page — a fast way to spot content gaps and optimisation opportunities.
It's also a convenient way to review a page's core on-page attributes and structure without digging through the page source, and to keep an eye on your running SEO tests while you work.

What the Chrome Extension shows:

• Google Search Console query data
• • As you browse a page on one of your sites, the extension displays the queries that page ranks for, and indicates whether each query is used on the page. This helps you understand which keywords are driving organic traffic and where you might strengthen your content.
• Page attributes
• • Use the extension to review a page's key attributes, such as the page title, meta description, and canonical value. The extension will also highlight potential issues with these settings.
• Heading structure
• • The headings section displays the page's document hierarchy, letting you spot headings that aren't nested correctly within the structure. Clicking a heading within the extension scrolls the page to that element, and hovering over it highlights it on the page.
• URL Inspection data
• • The extension also surfaces Google Search Console's URL Inspection information, so you can check a page's indexing status and performance details directly within the extension.
• Test monitoring
• • You can monitor the performance of your SEOTesting tests from the extension, giving you a quick way to track how your tests are progressing as you browse.

Step 1 - Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store

Follow this link to download the Chrome Extension - https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/seotesting/ddaafpdingninkjhagcfjmlmmofglnfl
Click Add to Chrome to install it.

Step 2 - Pin the extension

Once the extension has been added, click the Extensions button again and use the pin icon to pin SEOTesting to your browser toolbar, so it's always within easy reach.

Step 3 - Authenticate with your API key

Open the extension and go to your account. Paste in your SEOTesting API key (found in your account settings in SEOTesting) and click Authenticate.

Once authenticated, the extension brings back all the sites you have added to that SEOTesting account.

The extension only surfaces data for the sites added to the account the key belongs to.

Step 4 - Start browsing

Now, when you view a site you've added to SEOTesting under that account, the extension surfaces your data as you browse. You can open the queries view to see your Search Console data, view performance graphs for the last 90 days, and see any tests running, along with your reports.
