How to Conduct Year-on-Year Tests

Using the ‘Date Confirmation’ feature in SEOTesting makes it easy to conduct year-on-year testing.

Select at the top of the screen the website you wish to set up the test for.

Click ‘Tests’ on the left-hand side panel from your dashboard:

Click on the ‘Actions’ button at the top right of the screen, and select 'Create' from the drop-down:

Select the type of SEO test you want to run from one of the following options:

• Single Test
• Group Test
• URL Switch Test
• A/B Split Test
• LLM Test

To do this, instead of selecting 'Create' from the Actions drop-down, select 'Upload'.

Then follow the instructions for the upload:

To create a Single Test without a CSV upload, fill in the details of your test and then select 'Next':

Select the appropriate test scope for your test - Page, Page & Query, Query or Site.

Then input the other relevant fields for your test as shown:

Select your test period (the date change was made field will automatically populate with today's date).

To configure your test as a year-on-year test, select the corresponding dates in each box i.e. the control period would be last year and the test period would be this year, both for same periods:

Click 'Next' once you've entered the test period dates. The following screen then allows you to decide if you wish to display the test on the graphs and receive emails when the test is processed and completed - uncheck them if you do not want those.

Click on the ‘CreateTest’ button.

The test will begin processing and you will get an email informing you when the test has been processed.

If the test dates are in the past and SEOTesting has no further Google Search Console data to collect, you can view the test results as soon as they have been processed.
