Filtering for a specific URL type or site section
What does filtering for a URL type do?
Filtering for a URL type lets you narrow the data you work with down to one section of your site - for example, only pages under /blog/, /products/, or any other path pattern. This keeps your reporting focused on the pages you care about, rather than the whole domain.
There are three levels at which you can do this in SEOTesting, depending on how permanently and how broadly you want the filter to apply.
Option 1 - Filter the whole site property
When adding a Google Search Console property to SEOTesting, you can apply a filter so that the entire site only ever pulls data for URLs that match a pattern (for example, URLs that contain /blog/). Every report and view for that property will then be scoped to those URLs.
Choose this option when you always want to work with just one section of a site as if it were its own property.
For the full walkthrough of adding a property with filters, see How to add a new site.
Option 2 - Filter within the All Pages report
If you want to keep the full site available but filter when needed, open Reports → All Pages and use the filters on the data there. This applies your filter to that report view only, so you can switch it on and off as needed without changing anything permanent.
Choose this option for quick, one-off analysis of a subset of pages.
See the All Pages Report article for more on this report.
Option 3 - Create a Content Group
To track a section of your site over time, open Content Groups from the left-hand menu and add a URL or filter rule - for example, a "contains" match on /blog/.
A Content Group aggregates the performance of all matching URLs and keeps tracking them indefinitely, giving you a long-term trend view of that section.
Choose this option when you want ongoing, aggregated reporting on a site section rather than a one-time filter.
See Content Group Introduction to get started, and How to add URLs and Filters to a Content Group for editing rules.
